On Sunday, MP Navneet Rana dared Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to contest elections from ‘anywhere in the state’. She also said that she is “willing to contest elections against him and show him the empowerment of women in electoral politics.”

MP Navneet Rana was admitted in Lilavati Hospital for the treatment of spondylosis. Last month, she was arrested and alleged that she was harassed as well as tortured in the lockup.

She stated that she was put in jail with her husband for ‘taking lord Ram’s name” for which Rana said that “people of the state will give a befitting reply to them (state’s ruling MVA government) as they have misused their power.”

She addressed CM Thackeray saying that “If you have guts, then contest elections from any of the districts in state. I will contest against you and then see who the people of the state choose. You have got the CM’s position because of your forefather’s name. I challenge you to enter the electoral process, contest and win the elections. I will contest against you.”

“If reciting Hanuman Chalisa is a crime then I am willing to stay in jail not only for 14 days but for 14 years too. If they think that they can suppress a woman’s voice by keeping her in jail for 14 days then it’s not going to happen…Our fight is in the name of God and it’s going to continue further. The Shiv-Sena led government will pay the price for victimising me,” she said.
