On Monday, N Chandrasekaran was appointed as the Air India Chairman, This move has come a few days after the former chairman of Turkish Airlines – Ilker Ayci turned down the offer of becoming the CEO as well as the Managing Director of Air India.
Chandrasekaran, before becoming the Air India Chairman, has been the chairman of Tata Consultancy Services. After Nowroji Saklatwala and Cyrus Mistry, Chandrasekaran was the third person to be in that position. In 1987, Chandrasekaran started his career as a software programmer. He joined the board of Tata Sons in 2016 and later, in 2017, took over the position of chairman.
In October last year, Tatas bought Air India back in a $2.4 billion equity and debt deal.
