After consulting Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), Central and Western Railway officials, the Railway Board has decided to convert all the Mumbai local trains into AC trains.
It is likely that the fares will be reduced and it will be based on the metro fare structure.
Western Railways had recently conducted a survey among the local train commuters of Mumbai Suburbs wherein they tried to know about their preferences for the change.
The General Manager of Western Railways, Alok Kansal has said that the people who participated in the survey have opted for the AC local train services.
