From Wednesday, today, the price of CNG in Mumbai has risen by Rs.6 per kg, whereas the cost of piped cooking gas has risen by Rs.4 per unit. In a period of 13 months, this is the eleventh rise of CNG.
On Tuesday, the leader of Mumbai’s Taximen’s Union AL Quadros said that he will give an ultimatum to the Transport Commissioner Avinash Dhake that the union will be compelled to go on a strike “if the MMRTA does not hike fares for cabs by this week.”
The cabs have demanded an increase of Rs.10 to the minimum taxi fare of Rs.25. The CNG price rise will affect the fares for auto rickshaws, taxis, school buses, and aggregator cabs too.
