Testing has been stopped in crowded places like railway stations, beaches, and markets. Due to this, there is a drop in daily tests by 10,000. This move was followed by the announcement of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) of new rules on January 10 which said that random testing is not required.
Moreover, the guidelines by the ICMR added that it was also not necessary to test the contact of positive patients until and unless they are high-risk depending on age and comorbidity.
The Secretary of the Maharashtra unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has said that there is no requirement to test and find asymptomatic patients who could become the silent carriers of Covid-19.
