Maharashtra’s Solapur records 600+ Students positive for Covid-19 after Schools Reopen

Maharashtra has been the worst hit state by the Coronavirus Pandemic and now the predicted third wave is said to be targeting the child population of the country. Despite of this, Maharashtra’s Minister of School Education Varsha Gaikwad, earlier this month, announced the reopening of physical schools.

As the School for classes 8-12 began in July, Solapur district has recently recorded around 613 students with Covid-19 positive infection.

Asking the schools to reopen, Varsha Gaikwad had said it has become a need of the hour to have a co-educational approach to reach out to the children of the last strata of the state.

Maharashtra Minister of School Education Varsha Gaikwad gave the orders to open schools in Covid-free zones from July 12 for physical classes. The schools were only reopen for students of higher classes i.e. Classes 8 to 12.

Gaikwad had also asked the teachers to be fully vaccinated before starting the classes.
