On Thursday, Maharashtra’s FDA cancelled the license of Johnson & Johnson, barring it from manufacturing or selling baby powders in the state.

Johnson & Johnson baby powders continued to be sold in India despite the company discontinuing the product 24 months ago in the US and Canada. Orders were issued on September 15 by the FDA to stop the product manufacturing and also to recall it.

On Friday, the FDA said that the company needs to recall its stock with immediate effect.

The manufacturing license of Johnson’s Baby powder was cancelled by the FDA after the powder samples collected from Pune and Nashik were declared by the government as  ‘not of standard quality’.
