Maharashtra is witnessing a rise in Covid-19 cases and amid this raising concern, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has asked the district collectors to ask people to make use of masks – at the least in closed spaces like auditoriums, cinema halls, etc.

In a virtual meeting with district collectors, CM Uddhav Thacekray said that “it is advisable to wear masks in public spaces.”

A meeting was held with the Task Force and the CM on Monday in which the Task Force has given a suggestion that it should be made applicable to wear masks in confined places so as to avoid further spread of Coronavirus.

The district collectors have been asked by the CM to increase the Covid testing and to double the current numbers. He also asked to improve the ILI and SARI surveillance and to send the samples of genomic sequencing where around 3-7 cluster cases are found. He emphasized that vaccination must be promoted because the state is under the national average in all categories.
