Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Final year university exams have been scheduled to be conducted in October 2020. In order to review the preparations for the Final Year Exams 2020 in Maharashtra, State Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Uday Samant visited the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Saturday.

The State government of Maharashtra had requested the University Grants Commission to grant extension of the deadline to conduct exams by September 30, 2020 as the state was not prepared for this task. The exams are now scheduled to begin from October 1, 2020.

“As many as One lakh fourteen thousand students would be appearing for the exams, including 36,000 “repeaters”, said Samant, informing that 92 per cent of all students had opted to appear for the exams in the online mode as being conducted by the varsities this time. He also clarified last week that no special Covid-19 certificates would be granted to any student who appears for exams amid the pandemic.

A total of 2,47, 500 students have registered for the examinations. Notably, the Maharashtra government is yet to announce a decision on the reopening of schools and colleges in the state.
