Maharashtra is supposedly going in another lockdown soon due to the increased Covid-19 cases in its districts. The state has announced a set of new coronavirus guidelines including lockdowns across various regions in Maharashtra as Covid-19 numbers in the state remained vertical for a week, logging over 5,000 cases on Thursday. On Friday, the state reported 6,112 new cases in the span of 24 hours, which is the highest single-day spike in the last three months.

Authorities in places like Nashik, Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola and Buldhana have resorted to weekend lockdowns and night curfews to try to control the sudden surge of cases.

Guidelines announced for a few districts that are experiencing a rapid hike in its cases.

Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is not thinking of a lockdown at this moment. But on Thursday, the civic body has released a slew of rules.

> Residential buildings with more than five active Covid-19 cases will be sealed.

> Those who will be found breaking the Covid-19 rules will be sued.

> Travellers coming to Mumbai from Brazil will have to remain under seven-day institutional quarantine.

> Those who are supposed to be home quarantine will be stamped.

> 300 marshals deployed at Mumbai locals to take action against passengers travelling without masks.

> Regular inspection at halls, wedding venues to check whether Covid-19 norms are being maintained at these gatherings.

Amravati, Akola

> The weekend lockdown is being observed in Amravati and Akola that began on Saturday 8 pm and will continue till 7 am on Monday.

> This is to keep a check on the market activities on weekends.

> Everything else other than the essential services will remain closed.

> The lockdown order is only for this weekend as the authorities will take the next steps after seeing Covid-19 situation next week.

Pune

> The Pune administration will impose a fine of Rs 500 on people not wearing masks.

> Second-time offenders will be charged Rs 1,000.

> A flying squad is asked to be deployed to monitor gatherings at wedding halls and restaurants.

> “However, no curfew has been imposed in the district,” the report quoted Deshmukh as saying.

> Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar will reportedly hold a review meeting on the COVID-19 situation in the Pune district on Sunday.

Nagpur

> Nagpur Municipal Corporation has imposed a 50 per cent restriction capacity on wedding.

> Only 20 people will be allowed in funerals.

> Buildings with more than five Covid-19 cases will be sealed and people under home quarantine would be stamped on their hands.

Wardha

In the Wardha district, markets will be made to close by 7 pm and eateries will only be open till 9 pm.
