On Thursday, The Maharashtra Cabinet decided to reduce private schools fees by 15% due to the pandemic to ease the financial impact of the households.
Apart from schools, the Maharashtra Government has set up a committee to study the issue of college fees too.
According to Indian Express, the state fee regulatory authority will submit its recommendations within a month after studying the fees charged by universities and government-run as well as aided-unaided colleges for conventional and professional courses.
Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the state will take action against school management if they do not obey the new rule of fee cut.
The minister further said, “Once the cabinet has taken a decision, we will share with the honourable Supreme Court. Even then if any school management does not adhere to it, then we will take action against them. The government order will cover various issues and intricacies to avoid any confusion among parents and school management.”
