Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases, a crucial meeting was held by Maha CM Udhhav Tackeray to review the state’s Covid-19 situation. Post the meeting,the CM did not announce a lockdown but gave an indication of a complete lockdown.

The CM addressed the people of the state and said that, “I cannot rule out imposing a lockdown if the current Covid-19 situation prevails. People have become complacent.”

The CM also stressed on a fact that the lockdown would severely impact the economy, adding that “nobody is following peak/non-peak rules for Mumbai local trains.” In a couple of days, strict restrictions will be issued to curb the spread of the virus without stressing more about the kind of restrictions.

It was informed by Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray that in the coming days,state government aims to conduct 2.5 lakh RT-PCR tests on a daily basis.

The state has been conducting more than 1.50 lakh tests daily on average to detect the positive cases of the virus.

CM highlighted that, “Even after the vaccination, some people are getting infected because they stop wearing masks.” He also asserted that there could be a shortage of healthcare infrastructures if the covid situation deteriorates.

Recently, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that people should be ready for stringent measures in the coming days in order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. He said that imposing a lockdown is the last option for the state.
