The Kerala government has given out a recommendation so as to include transgenders in the police force. This recommendation has been handed over to the ADGP (law and order). Now, the ADGP will reach out to the counterparts for their opinion. Furthermore, the decision will be made at the conference of the ADGPs.
The concerned officials have consulted with the women and child welfare department regarding the trans peoples’ postings in the state police. The ADGP will hear out the opinions of the senior police officials and a report will be submitted to the state police chief. Once the report is studied, the decision will be on the DGP whether to recruit transgender in the police force and in which wings should they be appointed.
