On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court said that it is fundamental that a complete disclosure regarding veg or non-veg food be made since fundamental rights are impacted by what is given on the platter.
In December 2021, the Court had ruled that every individual has the right to know what they are consuming. It also said that it is mandatory for all the food business operators to make a complete disclosure of every ingredient that goes into the manufacturing of any food article.
On Wednesday, the division bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi along with Justice DK Sharma took a note of the communication that was issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India followed by the court order in which, it said that the same does not clearly tell about the obligation put on the food business operators related to the disclosure.
