Sonam Kapoor recently reacted to the Karnataka hijab row on social media. She asked why can’t a hijab be a choice if a turban can. The Karnataka government’s ban on the hijab in schools and colleges has resulted in a huge uproar and protests in the state.

The state government has invoked 133 (2) of the Karnataka Education Act 1983, which says a uniform style of clothes has to be worn compulsorily.

Earlier, Kamal Haasan, Richa Chadha, Onir and Aly Goni reacted to the Karnataka hijab row. Now, Sonam Kapoor took to her Instagram stories and shared a social media post. It had a picture of a man in turban and a woman in hijab, and it question why can a turban be a choice but a hijab can’t.

Javed Akhtar condemned heckling of women by protesters in Karnataka. He wrote, “I have never been in Favour of Hijab or Burqa. I still stand by that but at the same time I have nothing but deep contempt for these mobs of hooligans who are trying to intimidate a small group of girls and that too unsuccessfully. Is this their idea of “MANLINESS”.
