On Monday, the Indian Air Force was inducted with an indigenous light combat helicopter that will have the capability of undertaking offensive operation in places like Siachen Glacier and eastern Ladakh.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “The induction of LCH underlines the fact that just as the country trusts the IAF, the force equally trusts indigenous equipment.”
In the coming years, the Indian Air Force and the Army need nearly 160 Light Combat Helicopters. The initial contract for the first 15 light combat helicopters was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security at a price of Rs.3,887 crore.
