The High Court’s interim order has restrained all the students from wearing any religious attire in the educational institutions. A Bengaluru-based college allegedly asked a Sikh girl who was wearing a turban to not wear it while on campus.
The college authorities have asked the girl’s family that she will have to follow the order, for which the family has taken the stand that she will not take her turban off. As the order does not mention anything about the Sikh turban, the family is also said to be seeking a legal opinion.
This incident has come at such a time when a bench of 3 judges of the Karnataka HC which is headed by Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, is hearing petitions filed by female students of a college that is Udupi-based as those girls are not being allowed to attend lectures.
