He’s known for his family which has given the Indian cinema many actors throughout generations. He’s also known for his heart-throb personality. But what he is known for particularly is the theme of his movies which the millennial and gen- z generation relate to. As the actor celebrates his 38th birthday , here’s wishing Ranbir Kapoor good wishes for his birthday by taking a memory walk of his memorable performances.

1. A DEBUT WITH BOYISH CHARM


Saawariya is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language romance film produced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s 1848 short story , White Nights .The film marks the debut of both the lead actors; Ranbir Kapoor son of actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, and Sonam Kapoor, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor. The movie was known for many reasons. Audience went gaga over the song  Jab se tere Naina which was performed by a towel clad Ranbir. It potrays the message of pure innocent love and how sometimes you need to let go of the people you love for their happiness. Ranbir here plays the role of Ranbir Raj, a lead singer in a bar and the movie brings out his boyish charm. At the movie’s ending audience realise that it is actually a tribute to Ranbir’s grandfather Raj Kapoor. Not many know that this film was made earlier as Chhalia with Ranbir’s grandfather Raj Kapoor in lead with Nutan and Rehman. This will explain the reason for casting Sonam who quite resembles Nutan in features or Salman given the get up of Rehman. Chhalia was directed by Manmohan Desai.

 

2. RANBIR TEACHES TO FOLLOW YOUR PASSION:


Rockstar is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic drama film directed by Imtiaz Ali, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri. The film also marks the last silver screen appearance of veteran actor Shammi Kapoor. It follows Janardhan Jakhar a.k.a. JJ or Jordan, who dreams of becoming a rockstar like his role model, Jim Morrison. Yet, eventually on attaining all that he dreamt of, Jordan ends up anguished and despondent, by the loss of Heer Kaul, whom he loved passionately and whose death is inadvertently caused by Jordan himself. It takes the audience
on a journey which illustrates the trials and tribulations faced when one follows his/her passion. The movie is still remembered by the spectators for its chartbuster music , which includes Sadda Haq , Nadaan Parinde and the famous Kun Faya Kun.

3. POTRAYING LOVE WITHOUT WORDS:


Barfi! is a 2012 Indian comedy-drama film co-produced, written and directed by Anurag Basu. Set in the 1970s, the film depicts the story of Murphy ;Barfi ; Johnson (a deaf-mute boy from Darjeeling) and his relationships with two women, Shruti and Jhilmil. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Ileana D’Cruz in the lead roles.Priyanka Chopra essays the role of an autistic girl Jhilmil whereas Ranbir appears as dead and mute. The movie potrays how falling in love is possible for anyone no matter what their situation is. It teaches the audience to see life in a positive light and how sometimes moving on is better and how situations change a person.

4. RANBIR SHOWS HOW LIFE’S A ROLLERCOASTER :

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language coming-of-age romantic comedy- drama film, directed by Ayan Mukerji.It stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in their second film together after 2008’s Bachna Ae Haseeno. Since its release in 2013, the film has gone on to achieve cult status. The movie strikes the millennial youth in the right place. Ranbir’s character of Bunny is what every youth of India longs to be. Every teenager will relate to his dialogue, Main udna chahta hoon, daudna chahta hoon, girna bhi chahta hoon … bus rukna nahi chahta. The movie potrays friendship, love, passion and the complexity of emotions and life in its true essence. Ranbir teaches the audience to live life to its fullest rather than slogging tirelessly. 22 tak padhai, 25 pe naukri, 26 pe chokri, 30 pe bachche, 60 pe retirement … aur phir maut ka intezaar … dhat aaisi ghisi piti life thodi jeena chahta hoon; is the dialogue which essays the youth the beauty of life.

5. A MOVIE ABOUT COMPLEX EMOTIONS, LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP:

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil translation “this heart, it is difficult” is a 2016 Indian Hindi language musical romantic drama film directed, produced and written by Karan Johar. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan. Ranbir potrays Ayan Sanger who is a son of a millionaire and his encounter with Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) which turns into one sided love for Ayan and friendship for Alizeh. A trip to Paris results in Alizeh meeting with her ex boyfriend potrayed by Fawad Khan and ending in a marriage between the two. Though Ayan expresses his feelings, he leaves heartbroken and reaches the airport to fly off to Dubai. This leads to his encounter with Saba (Aishwarya Rai Bacchan). The movie teaches you about one sided love , friendship, heartbreak and the abstractness of certain relations.  Channa Mereya and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil are the popular songs of this movie.
