It has been proposed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) about a new model of “Federated Digital identities”. Under this, the citizen’s multiple digital IDs like PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving license, and passport can be interlinked, stored, and accessed through one unique ID.
This proposal is expected to be in the public domain very soon and the comments will be sought by the Ministry by February 27.
According to this framework, the “Federal Digital Identity” will also serve as a key aspect to the registry wherein all different state and central identities can be stored.
