On May 21, a reduction in the excise duty on petrol and diesel was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. For petrol, the reduction was by Rs.8 per litre and Rs.6 per litre for that of diesel. Amid the rising inflation, this decision by FM Sitharaman came as a relief to the common man.
In Delhi, the rate of a litre of petrol will cost Rs.96.72. In Mumbai, the rate of a litre of petrol will cost Rs.111.35. In Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs.102.63/litre. A litre of petrol will cost Rs.106.03 in Kolkata.
After the excise duty cut, a litre of diesel will cost Rs.89.62 in Delhi and Mumbai. A litre of diesel will be sold at Rs.94.24 per litre in Chennai and Rs.92.76 for a litre in Kolkata.
