Walmart’s Flipkart on Tuesday said that it would create 70,000 new jobs and employ many more as delivery partners and in other roles. This move is to make sure that Flipkart surges in online shopping during the upcoming and most-awaited, Indian Festive Season.
The Bengaluru-based company said that direct employment opportunities will be created across Flipkart’s supply chain, including jobs like delivery executives, pickers, packers, and sorters. There will also be additional indirect jobs created at Flipkart”s seller partner locations and kiranas (small groceries).
The company is also undertaking training programs for its direct hires in various facets of the supply chain. It will be through a mix of classroom and digital training, enhancing their understanding of supply chain management.
The training also includes customer service, delivery, installation, and safety and sanitization measures along with the handling of hand-held devices, PoS Machines, scanners, various mobile applications, and ERPs.
The training will help communicate future-ready skills for the upcoming workforce along with the kick-start of career development in the lightning-fast growth of the e-commerce sector in India.

Online sales have seen a huge boost particularly in recent months, and top e-commerce companies are gearing up for the main festive sales events expected to kick off in the coming weeks.
Earlier this month, Flipkart launched an online service, Flipkart Wholesale, for mom-and-pop stores and other small businesses.
