Maharashtra has been the worst hit state by the Coronavirus Pandemic so far and has been the first state to test a Delta Variant positive patient too. Currently, the number of Delta Plus cases of the coronavirus have crossed the 100 mark in the state.
The variant has been considered the most transmissible and dangerous than any other variants of the Virus.
Maharashtra has 103 Delta Plus cases after 27 new infections were reported in the state, according to the health department.
The Health Ministry said that of the new 27 Delta Plus cases, six each were detected in Gadchiroli and Amravati, five in Nagpur, four in Ahmednagar, three in Yavatmal, two in Nashik and one in Bhandara district.
The BMC also said that Maharashtra reported 128 patients of the Delta Plus variant besides Alpha, Kappa, and other strains of COVID-19.
The tests were conducted at the state-of-the-art Next-Generation Genome Sequencing Lab at the Kasturba Hospital, inaugurated by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray earlier this month.
