The National Monetisation Policy (NMP) is creating quite some issues in the political world of India. On August 23, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the NMP under which the government’s infrastructure assets would be sold over the next four years.

Amongst this is Darjeeling’s pride and joy, the Toy Train or the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR).

The Toy Train that runs in the Queen of the Hills – Darjeeling is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The Train is a prime attraction for tourism in the city.

From reel to real life, it has captured the imagination of one and all.

The Toy Train service had come to a halt since the pandemic but from today, i.e., August 25, the train will be chugging again.
