The contrast of Covid cases can be seen in the state and its capital, Mumbai. On Saturday, the states’ capital logged in 3,568 cases which were down from nearly 6,000 on Monday. On the other hand, in the same time period, the cases in Maharashtra rose to 46,393 from 31,111. On Friday, the cases in Maharashtra were 48,270 which was the highest in the third wave so far.
The test positivity rate for Mumbai dropped to 7% on Saturday from 10% on Friday. On the same day, the test positivity rate for Maharashtra was 23.4%.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kakani told The Print that Mumbai was not cutting the number of daily tests but was aggressively contact-tracing positive patients.
Kakani said, “We tracked all patients who came in contact with the positive patients and enforced home quarantine strictly through ward war rooms, because of which we could contain the spread.”
