The current recovery rate of the country is 79.28 per cent, nearing 80%. Globally, India is the second worst-hit country by the pandemic and accounts for almost 17 per cent of all cases in the world.
Followed by India and the US, Brazil has the highest number of recoveries accounting for 16.96% globally, the data shows. With 90,000 cases per day since the beginning of September, the recoveries per day are above the daily spike of cases.
The twice a week Tele-consultation provided by doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has also helped in the nation-wide increase in the recovered cases and low, steadily declining mortality. At present, the country’s case fatality ratio stands at 1.61%, much lower than the global average of 3.1%.
Even though India’s daily cases are among the highest in the world, the caseload, when compared with the population, is “among the lowest”, the central government had said earlier. Deaths in India have been relatively low.
