Key points:-
• Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said his government at least provided people full meals instead of asking them to bang their plates.

• Thackeray also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was “shamelessly” denying the discussion that took place between them in Matoshree on sharing of the chief minister’s post between BJP and Shiv Sena in regard to the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls.
• Thackeray criticised the BJP on a range of issues – not bestowing the Bharat Ratna on V D Savarkar, increasing fuel prices, announcing a sudden lockdown, not granting classical status to Marathi language and the stand off over the Kanjurmarg land in Mumbai for the Metro car shed among others.

On Wednesday while addressing the state Assembly during the ongoing Union Budget, CM Uddhav Thackeray said the Shiv Sena was not part of the freedom struggle but neither was the BJP’s “parent organisation” (the RSS).

“Therefore, only chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ does not prove your love for the country. You don’t have the right to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ if you are not going to give justice to people and if you are forcing farmers to protest on the streets,” Uddhav Thackeray said.

Thackeray also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was “shamelessly” denying the discussion that took place between them in Matoshree on sharing of the chief minister’s post between BJP and Shiv Sena in regard to the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls.

While the Shiv Sena have been hitting out at the BJP, this was a rare occasion when Uddhav Thackeray attacked the RSS too.

Thackeray criticised the BJP on a range of issues – not bestowing the Bharat Ratna on V D Savarkar, increasing fuel prices, announcing a sudden lockdown, not granting classical status to
Marathi language and the stand off over the Kanjurmarg land in Mumbai for the Metro car shed among others.

Responding to the BJP’s allegations that the state government’s ‘Shivbhojan thali’ scheme during the Covid-19 pandemic was a “failure”, Uddhav Thackeray said his party does not believe in making hollow promises.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said his government at least provided people full meals instead of asking them to bang their plates.

“We provided full thalis with Shivbhojan but they wanted people to bang empty plates,” he said.
