Maharashtra has been hit by the Monsoon season quite late but the range of the recorded rains is higher than ever. Mumbai, the capital city is facing its worst rainfall ever and citizens have also lost lives due to it.
Seeing this, on Sunday, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met with officials to take note of the situation.
Mumbai saw landslides due to the record rainfall and thirty-one people have lost lives in such incidents as the city witnessed frightening rains.
A major thunderstorm along with continuous heavy rainfall overnight struck Mumbai leading to waterlogging, traffic disruptions and landslides in the capital capital of the country.
Expressing grief over the situation, CM Thackeray announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
Mumbai and coastal Maharashtra currently is under an orange alert for the next 5 days and BMC is shifting the people out of the low-lying areas where landslides are predicted.
