The day Chandrayaan 2 crashed in September last year was a day of national grief. ISRO has planned another Moon mission this year but, due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the project seems to be delayed to next year.
Chandrayaan – 3 is the added process to Chandrayaan – 2 due to its crash last year. A rover and a lander stay constant in the mission but, there will be no orbiter like the last one announced Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday.
The South Poles are seen to be rusting according to the pictures that have appeared through the previously sent Chandrayaan – 1, which was the maiden mission of ISRO and also suggesting that the pictures are from the working orbiter of Chandrayaan – 2.
“The Moon’s surface is rich with iron rocks but, rusting requires two basic elements – water and oxygen,” said Jitendra.
The scientists are trying to make sense out of the pictures and finding if there’s any presence of water on the poles of the Moon. A possibility that the Moon may have an Earth-like atmosphere and that the Earth’s atmosphere maybe protecting the Moon as well cannot be denied.
India is also planning on its first-ever Human Space mission Gaganyaan for which the preparations have begun.
