The Centre has decided to raise GST to 12% on apparel, clothing and footwear less than ₹1,000. The GST rate on clothing and footwear upto ₹1.000 has been hiked from 5%.
GST of 13% will be attracted by synthetic and artificial yarn too. Silk and wool yarn have been spared as of now.
On Sunday, the country’s 700 small traders body Confederation of All India Traders said that the GST council has stopped consulting traders and is taking decisions arbitrarily and has no touch with the ground realities of trade.
