A few days before the Christmas and New Years’ festivities, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has tightened the rules for gatherings, weddings, parties, and other get-togethers in public as well as commercial places.
An order was issued on Monday wherein the BMC has now made it mandatory for the organizers or the owners of commercial premises hosting gatherings to take prior permission in written format from the respective ward officers for any gathering of over 200 people.
As per the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the BMC will take action in case the rules are violated. The rules have come into effect from December 20, 2021.
