Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, while addressing the nation in his Radio Show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, greeted people on the occasion of Vijayadashami and urged people to celebrate a low key Dussehra due to the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mann ki Baat airs on one Sunday of every month. PM Modi talks to the citizens about everything that happened in the previous month and what might happen the next.

Highlights of Mann Ki Baat:

  • PM Modi wished the countrymen for the upcoming and ongoing festivals and requested them to stay safe and follow the SOP’s due to the coronavirus threat.
  • Saying that the nation is blessed with talented people, he appreciated the efforts of the citizens towards their step to national integration and said that unified, the country can scale new heights.
  • On the occasion of Sardar Patel’s Jayanti on 31st October, PM Modi shared an insider’s fact about Patel saying that he had a great sense of humour and that we should all keep that sense alive in us.

  • Talking about the popularity of Indian sports in foreign countries, PM Modi mentioned India’s traditional sport Mallakhamb gaining admiration in the US.
  • Chinmay & Pragya Patankar started teaching Mallakhamb at home, then they had no idea that it will gain so much success. Today, there are many Mallakhamb training centres in US: PM
  • KHADI was another topic the Prime Minister spoke about. Record break sales in Delhi and the world getting interested in Indian Products with an example of Khadi getting popular in Mexico, PM Modi was happy mentioning the example.

  • Mentioning the Soldiers of the country, “India stands firmly with our brave soldiers and security forces” is what PM Modi said.
  • PM Narendra Modi also insisted people to ‘BE VOCAL FOR THE LOCAL’ during Shopping for the upcoming festive season.

  • “During festivals, do remember lockdown times when we got to know those close associates of society without whom our lives would have been very difficult. Sanitisation workers,housekeepers & guards were with us in difficult times, now in festivals, we’ve to take them along ,“ said PM Modi.
  • He said that the festivals like the Durga Pooja and Dussehra used to be celebrated on a large scale but, the pandemic has stopped the country from celebrating and many more festivals are yet to be observed in the same, low key way.
