Amid Omicron scare, Maharashtra govt may close schools if cases rise, says Education Minister

Amid the rise of Omicron cases, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, on Wednesday said that schools in the state may be shut if the number of patients in Maharashtra, infected with Omicron, continue to rise.

In Maharashtra, schools reopened fully on December 1.

In the western state, physical classes in schools have resumed from December 1 for classes 1-7 in urban areas whereas classes 1-4 in the rural areas. On October 4, the resumption of physical lectures started for classes 8-12 in urban areas whereas classes 4-12 in rural areas.
