Before Tesla enters into the Indian market, the company has urged PM Modi’s office in order to slash import taxes on the EVs.
The company wants to begin selling imported cars to India this year. But, it says that the taxes in India are among the highest in the world.
Tesla executives along with its head of policy in india, Manuj Khurana has taken the company’s demands to PM Modi’s officials in the last month in a closed-door meeting and argued that the taxes were too high.
