Covid-19: Maharashtra reports 40,925 positive cases, no new curbs yet

On Friday, the Covid positive cases rose to 40,925 which was the highest tally since the previous highest tally of 42,582 cases logged on May 13, 2021. Witnessing this massive surge in the Covid positive cases, the number prompted the state government to indicate that it may tighten enforcement measures as well as restrict non-essential services and impose a night curfew in Mumbai.

Along with this, Maharashtra also witnessed a marginally higher death count of 20, against 13 mortalities on the previous day. Until now, 1,41,614 people have lost their lives to Covid.

Mumbai tops the case tally, followed by Pune at 2,804 and urban areas in large metropolitan areas like the Navi Mumbai with 2,664 cases, Thane with 2,612 cases, and Panvel with 1,423 cases. Maharashtra’s tally of active cases stands at 1,41, 492.
