In the last 24 hours, India witnessed the highest surge of Covid cases recording 1,17,100 positive cases. Since Thursday, the number of Covid cases has increased by 28 percent. India had logged in 90,928 Covid cases on January 6.
The Health Ministry has said that the number of Omicron cases has risen to 3,007 in the country and has now spread to 27 states including the Union Territories.
Maharashtra is the hardest-hit state due to the Covid. It has recorded over 36,000 Covid cases on Thursday with Mumbai recording more than 20,000 Covid cases. In Mumbai, the positivity rate stands at 29.90 percent, said the State Health Officials.
