In the last six days, the Covid cases have seen a spike of more than 400% with Thursday seeing the highest single-day spike of 2,180 cases. Directives have been given by the TMC to seat any building found with more than 10 positive Covid cases. Moreover, those buildings will be declared as containment zones.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has also asked the hospitals to make sure that the beds are not unnecessarily occupied by the patients who are not in need of hospitalization, and action will be taken against hospitals that are found admitting patients with mild or no symptoms.
A circular has been issued by the TMC asking mild and asymptomatic patients to home quarantine. The civic officials have informed that as of now, 10% to 12% of the active cases are hospitalized.
