Shakti Mills gang-rape case: Bombay High Court commutes death sentence of the accused to life imprisonment

On Thursday, the Bombay High Court upheld the conviction but commuted it to a life sentence. In Mumbai, more than seven years after the trial court had sentenced three men which also included an 18-year-old to death by hanging in the 2013 Shakti Mills gang-rape case has upheld its conviction. 

The High Court bench of justices SS Jadhav and PK Chavan heard the matter and gave the verdict on the appeal against the conviction and sentence along with the mandatory death confirmation reference. 

It was in  April 2014 when the death sentence was given to the trio. The accused had made an appeal against the verdict of the trial court.
