The state has recorded daily Covid cases under 1000 after a week as 809 infections were reported on Monday. Since May 2, 2020, this is the single lowest single-day caseload.
Maharashtra has also reported a drop in the positivity rate. In the month of May, the test positivity rate was more than 10%. On Monday, the test positivity rate was 0.49%.
Kedar Toraskar is a member of the state’s Covdi task force and he has said that “It is surprising that we are seeing a decline in cases despite people not adhering to Covid-19 appropriate behavior. I think cases are declining due to vacations and herd community.”
