On Friday, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari said that the Tesla car will be affordable when it is launched in India and it will cost ₹35 lakh.
Tesla has been invited to produce its cars in India and it has also been in talks with the Indian government.
There has been no formal announcement by Tesla on its India’s plan, yet. However, it is widely anticipated that Tesla manufacturer will bring the affordable Tesla model 3 wherein the starting price range would be from 55 lakh to 60 lakh.
Apart from this, Gadkari has said that he has communicated with Tesla to not launch ‘Made in China’ cars to India. “I asked Tesla officials not to make the car in China and sell it in India. It is something I had in my mind and I told them,” he said. “Come to India, make it here, sell it here, and export from here. The government will provide you all the help and support you need,” he added.
