The Uttar Pradesh government has banned the sale of meat and liquor in Mathura. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami on Monday. Yogi Adityanath said the decision was taken following the demand raised by the seers of the Braj region. The administration has been asked to keep the Braj region free of meat and alcohol, said Yogi Adityanath. He also said the officers concerned were instructed to make plans for the employment of people who were earlier engaged in the business. Yogi Adityanath attended the Janmashtami festivities at the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, he also prayed to Lord Krishna to eliminate the novel coronavirus infection.
