India and Maldives signed a contract for the implementation of an India-funded connectivity undertaking, described by Maldives international minister Abdulla Shahid because the largest infrastructure initiative within the island nation. Under the Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) undertaking, a 6.74-km-lengthy bridge and causeway hyperlink might be constructed to attach capital metropolis Male with adjoining islands of Villingli, Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi.
