Marking the first anniversary of the New Education Policy 2020 on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that in a first, 14 engineering colleges have started the course in 5 regional languages.
Adding in, PM Modi said that this move will help the marginalised sections of the society.
The New Education Policy, write from its announcement mentioned its focus on the regional language studying.
This is a major initiative to promote the same.
As per the New Indian Express, authorities of the All India Council for Technical Education, explained that while 60 additional seats have been approved in 14 institutions for starting the B Tech programme in five languages, the plan was to introduce the course in 12 regional languages in a phase-wise manner.
“I believe that is one of the bigger factors in ‘mahayagya’ of national development,” said the Prime Minister adding in that the new Education Policy will play a major role in this important period.
