With the world accepting the LGBTQ more, India has not fallen back this time. From celebrating the Pride Day to the Pride Month and from being politicians to almost any career and from constructing shelter homes to now giving them reservations, India has stepped forward as an LGBTQ supporter.
Karnataka, out of all, has become the first Indian State to provide 1% reservation for the transgender community people in all the government services.
A report was submitted to the High Court by the state government in this regard.
The report stated that a notification has already been issued after amending the Karnataka Civil Service (General Recruitment) Rule, 1977.
The July 6 notification specifies 1% reservation in all general as well as reserve categories for transgender people.
What this means that within the job quota for SC, ST, OBC and the Open category, 1% of jobs will be reserved for transgender people who belong to those communities.
