India’s home-made semi-high speed train, Vande Bharat, will now have company of 10 other such new trains, as planned by the Railways.
The planned 10 trains are to be linked around 40 cities by August 2022 to commemorate 75 years of Independence.
The new Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, among his first moves has reviewed the project and directed that the rollout plan be advanced to show a visible upgrade in the country’s rail services as India marks its 75th independence from the extortionate British Rule.
Medha, a Hyderabad-based engineering firm has been asked to push its production plan in order to roll out at least 2 prototypes by March 2022 following all trials.
The company had won the contract to supply the electrical systems for 44 Vande Bharat trains in February.
