India has badly been hit by the second wave of Coronavirus and everyday is a new record registered. But, at the same time, the recovery rate is also quite reasonable. As people are recovering from Covid-19, their focus should be more on increasing the immunity and energy levels of their bodies. 

A person suffering from coronavirus can recover from quickly if they have strong immunity. Therefore, Corona patients should prefer to eat foods that boost the immune system. 

For the ones in search of natural home remedies to Boost Immunity, the Government of India’s Twitter handle, MyGovIndia has got us all covered.

The Twitter handle posted a set of remedies which can naturally boost immunity and raise the energy levels, so as to stay safe from not just the coronavirus but be safe and healthy in general too.

Despite of being able to consume less due to the loss of taste and smell while being affected by the virus, the guideline says, “It is important to eat soft foods at small intervals and to add amchoor in the food.”

Check out the general measures to boost immunity amid Covid

  • Consume food that would help rebuild muscle , immunity and energy levels 
  • Whole grain like ragi, oats and amaranth (rajgeera) are advised
  • Good sources of Protien such as Chicken, Fish, Eggs, Paneer, Soy Nuts and Seeds suggested
  • Healthy fat like Walnuts, Almonds, Olive Oil, Mustard Oil recommended
  • Regular physical activity like Yoga and Breathing Exercise advised (Pranayam) as per tolerance
  • 5 servings of Colored Fruit and Vegetables to get adequate Vitamins & Minerals advised
  • Small amounts of Dark Chocolate with at least 70% Cocoa to get rid of Anxiety 
  • Take Turmeric Milk once a day to Boost Immunity 

The Centre has been saying that the infection can be cured almost by 80% at home if proper nutrition is taken, without any medical intermediation. Regular physical exercise as well as breathing exercises have been advised for a better health by the Centre.

In a recent post, the handle has also posted an Ayurvedic Remedy to boost immunity in general. It includes:

  • Consuming 10 grams of Chyawanprash in the morning.
  • Drinking 150 ml of Milk with ½ tablespoon of turmeric mixed once or twice a day.
  • Drink herbal tea that includes Basil, Cinammon, Black Pepper, Dry Ginger and Raisin.

A 5 step sample meal plan has also been advised by the Government in order to increasing the immunity levels.

What is the 5-Step Meal Plan as a Sample?

Early Morning

Soaked Almonds and Raisins

Why? 

Almonds = Rich Source of Protein

Raisins = Good Amount of Iron

Breakfast

Ragi Dosa or Bowl of Porridge

Why?

Ragi = Rich Source of Zinc, Iodine, Iron, Calcium

Porridge = Provides Zinc, Iron and Vitamins

Lunch or Post Lunch

Mixture of Ghee and Jaggery. (Can be eaten with Roti)

Why?

Ghee and Jaggery help detoxify the body plus helps digest the food and maintain hormonal balance.

Dinner

Have a simple Khichdi

Why?

It is light on the gut, provides all necessary nutrients and provides good sleep

Overall Day

HYDRATE YOURSELF with Water, Lime Juice and Buttermilk

Why?

It’s Summer and the body needs more water. 

Lime Juice = Vitamin C and acts as an antioxidant.

Buttermilk = Natural Cooler for the body, helps in digestion and reduces acidity.
