On Tuesday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray lashed out at the current government of the state but he gave out one more statement saying that ‘The Migrants’ are responsible for the increasing Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra.

“A large number of people coming from other states are not being tested for Covid-19. Covid-19 cases in the state are increasing due to these people,” said Thackeray.

Saying that there is absolutely no check on how many people are traveling in and out of the state, that is why the Lockdown had to be implemented. “There is no tab on migrants coming and going and due to these people, Maharashtrians have to face the brunt in form of the lockdown and sit at home,” Raj Thackeray said.

The state of Maharashtra has been seeing an increasing graph of Covid-19 cases over the last few days. The state was asked to be under a Weekend Lockdown and Weekdays Curfew till April 30 by Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday. The partial lockdown is a decision taken to curb the spread of the infection in Maharashtra.

As per Union health secretary Rajeh Bhushan, Mumbai is among the 10 districts in the country with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases while Maharashtra is among states of maximum concern.

Raj Thackeray said that when the previous lockdown was announced, a huge number of migrants were seen panicking and crowded outside the Train Stations and Bus Stops in order to anyhow reach their native states. Raj said that he had suggested that the ones that are traveling out, must be registered and tested on their return to Maharashtra.

“Both my suggestions were ignored. Today it’s Corona, tomorrow it could be some other virus. This chain is not going to stop,” he added.

“Why is Maharashtra showing bigger numbers than other states? We’re an industrial state that gives jobs. West Bengal doesn’t have the pandemic. States where farmers’ agitation is being conducted don’t show any steep spike. Here in Maharashtra, lakhs of people come in daily from the states where they are not tested. They are the super spreaders,” he said.

“On the other hand, Maharashtra is testing and giving out numbers which gives the impression that it is the only state where COVID-19 is threatening the population and economy,” he said on Tuesday after a talk with brother Uddhav Thackeray a day prior. Adding that he has now suggested certain measures to the CM to help distressed people and traders who are up in arms against the curbs and weekend lockdown, imposed till April 30. He said the CM has positively responded to his suggestions.
