Key Points:

  • On Sunday evening, the Guidelines of the ‘Strict Curbs’ in the state have been put out for the citizens of the state that will continue till April 30.
  • Saturday and Sundays will have a COMPLETE lockdown.
  • The lockdown will begin at 8PM on Friday and end on 7AM on Monday (For Weekends)
  • The night curfew will be put in place from 8 pm to 7 am (Everyday).
  • Not more than 5 people are allowed to gather even in the daytime.
  • On Friday the state reported around 48,000 cases.

The state of Maharashtra has been recording a high number of Covid-19 cases since the last month and hence, the Chief Minister of the state, Uddhav Thackeray, had to come live to the state’s audience on Friday evening.

After addressing for 30 minutes straight and warning people of the consequences due to their deeds, on Sunday evening, the Guidelines of the ‘Strict Curbs’ in the state have been put out for the citizens of the state that will continue till April 30.

Maharashtra Minister Aslam Shaikh told of the Strict Impositions to the reporters after the Cabinet meeting today.

General Guidelines until April 30:

  • Saturday and Sundays will have a COMPLETE lockdown.
  • The lockdown will begin at 8PM on Friday and end on 7AM on Monday (For Weekends)
  • The night curfew will be put in place from 8 pm to 7 am (Everyday).
  • Restaurants will remain shut and only parcel service will be allowed in the given time.
  • Cinema Halls and Drama Theatres will remain closed.
  • Film shoots are permitted without crowd.
  • Schools and Colleges will remain completely shut.
  • Not more than 5 people are allowed to gather even in the daytime.
  • Prohibitory orders are issued under section 144 will be in force during the day time during the week.
  • Micro-containment zones will be put in place with strict measures.
  • For offices, employees will have to work from home.
  • Public transport to operate at 50 per cent of their capacity.
  • Industrial operations and construction activity will be allowed.

Maharashtra state reported nearly 50,000 new cases on Saturday which was around 60% of all the cases reported from across the country on that day. On Friday the state reported around 48,000 cases.

Safeguarding Economy and Livelihood of the Poor as well as Saving Lives were the two things that the state wanted, said Thackeray and hence these Strict Impositions.
