It’s not any other politician kid or a Bollywood actor but this time, a beauty pageant contestant. Miss India 2015 Contestant and Model Diksha Singh is all set to step into politics by being a contestant in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections from Jaunpur.
Diksha, who won the Miss Body Beautiful in the 2015 Miss India is native to the Chittori Village in the Baksha area of the district. On Friday, April 2, the 24-year-old model graduated from MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, Goa, told PTI reporters that she studied till Class III at the village after which she moved to Mumbai and then to Goa with her father.
When asked the motive behind her political dive, Diksha said, “I have been participating in competitions and political debates since college days and have been coming to the village from time to time. On coming here, I saw that even today, Jaunpur district is far away from development. So, I have come for the Panchayat elections, thinking of some change.”
When Diksha announced her plans of standing for the Elections, rumors were all around the place that said Diksha jumped into the fray on behalf of her father Jitendra Singh, who wanted to contest but the seat was reserved for women candidates.
The family denied the blames saying, “It is her independent decision and is driven by her desire to serve her native place,”.”
The proud father of Diksha Singh, runs his business in Goa and Rajasthan and believes that empowering women was the first step toward real social change.
