India’s national capital will finally have a dignified crematory/burial for your deceased animals. The first public crematorium is all set to be hosted in Delhi and will be set up by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). The crematorium is expected to be set up in Delhi’s Dwarka and will be spread in about 700 metres.

“We want such animals to also have dignified last rites, as we do for humans. So, we have asked for provisions to be made to have a priest at the crematorium who will perform the rituals in a traditional way for a dead pet,” a municipal official was quoted as saying.

Further, the animals will be getting a proper cremation with rituals presided by priests and later their ashes will be stored for atleast 15 days.

The rates will be decided according to the weight of the animal.”The rate will be Rs 2,000 for a dog weighing up to 30 kg and Rs 3,000 for over 30 kg category,” the official added.People from outside the municipality jurisdiction can also make use of the facility with the same tariff.

The crematorium will be divided into two units-one with a 159 kg capacity for heavy dog biomass and another one with 100 kg capacity for stray dogs.

An amount of Rs 500 will be charged in case the last rites of stray animal belonging to the North or the East Corporation have to be performed.

This crematorium will help many grieving pet owners and animal lovers while providing animals with a dignified cremation/burial.
