Seema Dhaka, head constable, who is now an Assistant Sub-Inspector, is the first personnel of the Delhi Police who has been granted an out-of-turn promotion for tracing 76 missing children, officials said on Wednesday.
She was granted the promotion under a new initiative that assures quick promotions for constables and head constables for tracing missing children.
Ms. Dhaka told NDTV, “When we join police force, we’re aware of the challenges involved, and we’re aware of the risk to our lives. That doesn’t frighten us.”
On August 7, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava had announced the grant of additional incentives, including an out-of-turn promotion, for any constable or head constable who rescues 50 or more missing children below the age of 14 years within a period of 12 months. At least 15 of the children should be aged less than eight years.
Dhaka recovered 76 persons out of which 56 are children of 14 years and below.
Two kids were rescued from West Bengal and Hoshiarpur district of Punjab along with several from Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, Panipat and Bihar, etc.
Out of turn Promotions have encouraged Dhaka to solve more such cases. “I am happy and content with the reward and recognition that I have got for my work. Such OTPs encourage us to put in a lot more effort,” she said.
